Welcome

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Wokingham. I offer therapy services face-to-face, online (Using Zoom) and on the telephone. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for my clients to work through their issues and explore the changes to their lives that they are looking for.

Loss & Bereavement

In these uncertain times, loss is becoming increasingly common. Many of us are familiar with the personal impact of loss caused by the death of a loved one. Feelings of loss can also be triggered by losing your job
or the breakdown of a relationship. Loss is an intensely personal experience and is different for everyone. Having someone to help you work through your confusing thoughts and feelings with acceptance and empathy can really help.

Anxiety & Depression

It is estimated that 1 in 4 people in the UK experience mental health issues each year. In the UK, 1 in 6 people each week report experiencing anxiety or depression. These conditions can leave you feeling desperate and alone. Working with a qualified and experienced professional can help you understand what’s happening in your mind and body and begin the journey to recovery.

Coronavirus Pandemic

We are all experiencing stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Experiencing fears and worries about your safety and the future is perfectly understandable in the current climate. Good mental health support at this time is vital. Talking through your worries with an experienced professional can really help.

About Me

Garry Newman

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Wokingham. I offer therapy services face-to-face, online (using Zoom) and on the telephone.

I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for my clients to work through their issues and explore the changes to their lives that they are looking for.

My approach is integrative, which means that I can draw from several core therapeutic approaches so that the treatment I provide is personally suited to each of my clients.

I whole-heartedly believe in the importance of mental health support and have genuine acceptance and empathy for people who find themselves in difficult situations. I gained experience of working in several different settings before training as a therapist, which has helped me develop a deep understanding of how challenging life can sometimes be.

Therapy Online

For some people, the thought of meeting a therapist face-to-face in a physical room is really daunting. There are many reasons why face-to-face therapy isn’t suitable for everyone.

I provide online therapy using Zoom. This is a free to download software package that can be used to set up Internet meetings. The software has end to end encryption, which means that your therapy session is confidential and secure. Nobody will be able to hear your session and no copy of it will be kept or viewed by a third party. You will need to use a computer, tablet or phone with webcam facility. You will be able to see and hear your counsellor and your counsellor will be able to see and hear you.

Many of my clients use online therapy. It provides the benefits of face-to-face counselling with the comfort and convenience of being in your own home. Access to appointments is also often quicker and more flexible, as we don’t have to worry about access to rooms.

If you would like to know more or think this type of therapy might suit you better, please feel free to contact me.

Charges

I offer a free, 30 minute, initial consultation on either the telephone or Zoom.

This allows us to discuss the issues you want to work through and for you to ask any questions you might have. If we decide to go ahead with therapy, we will agree a day and time for your session, which will be the same each week.

My charges are:

Day

£55
for each 50-minute daytime (9am to 6pm) therapy session.

Evening

£65
for each 50-minute evening (7pm to 9pm) therapy session.

Contact Garry

If you think I can help you, or you would like to know more about the services I provide, you can contact me in confidence and without obligation by telephone on 07973 312163.

As a starting point for all of my clients, I offer a free initial consultation. This lasts for 30 minutes and gives us the chance to talk about what you want to work through and importantly, to see if you feel comfortable talking to me. This consultation will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. After the initial consultation, if you decide you would like to go ahead, we can book some sessions for you.

If you would like to book your free initial consultation now, please use my calendar facility to select a date and time. You can choose to talk over a telephone call or Zoom.

What Is Counselling and What Can I Expect?

Many people have an idea of what they think counselling or therapy is all about, but often the reality is something different.
